The Georgia Aquarium

Ah, the majesty of nature...
Here are some snaps I got at the Georgia Aquarium in ATL a couple of weekends ago. It is a pretty awesome place, but good lord was it crowded! An ATL'an from the HOW forum mentioned that they have stopped issuing year passes because they are always over capacity. Anways, let nature speak for itself. If you want to see them larger (which you should) click on the image!

The Great Barrier Reef.

Jellyfish - duh!

Another shot of the reef.

Lots of teeny tiny fish! Pretty neat.

Mr. Ray!

1 of 5 Beluga Whales.

Giant Octopus

Leafy Sea Dragon

Whale Shark with his entourage.

Cutey little penguin!

wow... those are some nice pics...

I want to go there... that may be my only reason to go to Atlanta... hehe...

And to see me! Because that would be close enough :) You wouldn't want to come here anyways, unless you wanted to be mind-numbingly bored of make fun of rednecks (where there is some merit in that!).

Beautiful pictures. I take lousey pictures.

well DUH to see you... but you're in Alabama... not Atlanta... so you'd be my reason to go to Alabama... and the aquarium would be my reason to go to Georgia... hehe :)

Well, Atlanta is to Mary like Raleigh is to Mayberry's Andy Griffith. It's the BIG TIME. And only 1&1/2 hours away.

I don't know what that reference mean :)

I'm only 45 minutes away from Los Angeles (if traffic is good) I guess that's Big Time for socal...

but wait... I LIVE in Anaheim... and that's like a main vacation destination for millions of people per year... so I'm already in a big time place... hee...

Yeah, I'm really excited about going there someday! I'm a huge aquarium person. No dogs or cats, but definitely fish in my apartment.

It seems that Tamie had better things to watch than every episode ever made of the Andy Griffith Show.

Tamie, Sis and I lived in a deprived area where we had the "Big 3" networks as well as PBS when it was not too cloudy and later Fox. "The Andy Griffith Show" came on Channel 19 a few times a day. Seriously, it was all there was to watch. At one time, i would bet that mary and I could name the number of moles on Aunt Bea's second chin.

Memories, eh Kiddo?

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I absolutely love your portfolio. I'm a marketing major, and I was considering taking a couple graphic design classes. Any suggestions? My email is coreyshepherd at gmail.com.

Awesome shots! I am an aquarium nerd...always have to see the ones in the cities I visit. Sadly, our aquarium here sucks. The only two things cool about it are the shark tank as you walk in and the penguins.

Wow!
They have a Whale Shark in there?!
That place must be huge.

Nice shots mary, thanks for posting.

yeah, they've got like 2 maybe even three whale sharks. And those Beluga whales take up tons of space too. The whale sharks are in the tunnel tank which is why I've got the cool under-the-sea image.

ah... yes... I can totally empathize with the andy griffith thing... when I was growing up (until about age 12) all my mother would let my sis and I watch was cartoons... nickelodeon... and nick at nite (classic tv shows)...

but again... I LOVE the pictures :)

i love them mary! they are awesome.

sting rays are the best, they look like they are smiling. i wish they didn't have such an ominous name though.... STING!!! bxzzzzzz...

Melissa said...

Yeah, devon. Sting really is an ominous name. I mean, I kinda liked The Police, but all that tantric stuff is really creepy! And then there's Ray. Like Ray Charles, or Sugar Ray. I mean, imagine Sugar Ray doing a Sting cover? What a mess! ;-)

Anyway, fun aquarium!! I love the National Aquarium in Baltimore! But you gotta knock over all the kiddies just to get a peek at the tanks!

damn kids!
same thing in chicago. what are they trying to learn or something?

Mary said...

I just step on the little buggers. LOL Actually, I'm probably like 200% worse than the little kids when it comes to zoos and aquariums.

Ohhhh...I just love aquariums. These are great photos. This sea dragons are unreal.

The shot with teenie fish look like those rock climbing walls..hahah.

Beluga whales are just awesome to watch. I can watch them swim in circles forever...walrus are fun to watch...those are massive, but not as massive as the whale shark - I've yet to see one of those.
